Meeting was
called to order by Theater Booster Club president, Cindy Moringy at 7:05p.m.
The main focus
of the meeting was to discuss initial needs of The Little Theater Company’s production of Grease, January 29-February
1, 2009.
Mr. Porter
gave kudos to all the parents who volunteered at the Diviner’s. The show
was reported to have broken even, although final figures have not yet been calculated.
There are still some outstanding receipts to be reimbursed. Approximately,
400 people attended over the 4 shows.
The video for
Diviner’s will be available soon at a cost of $5-10/DVD.
An overview
of casting philosophy and results were given by Mr. Porter. He indicated that
approximately half of the cast is comprised of choir students and half of theater students.
It will be imperative to get parent help from choir parents in order to make the production a success. We will invite Choir Booster members to our next Booster meeting to be held December 10 at 7:00.
The Theater
Booster Club officers will be meeting before the next meeting to organize parent needs for Grease.
Forms were
given to students requesting parent phone numbers and email addresses. Upon completion,
the list will be given to Cindy Moringy to use in recruiting parents.
Costume fees
which will include the Grease t-shirts will be posted on the theater website (www.andersontheater.org)
Mr. Porter
has initial costuming needs:
35 old fashioned prom dresses (ladies—check those closets!)
1 letter sweater
5 simple cheerleader outfits
11 choir robes or graduation robes
Converse tennis shoes
7-8 nice poodle skirts
Peddle pusher pants
Scarves
Black Leather jacket for Danny
Black Leather jacket for Sandy
***If anyone
has garment racks they would like to lend to Mr. Porter, he is in need, due to the quantity of costumes needed for Grease.
There was discussion
on lobby displays for the show and talk of using 1950’s style candy for concessions.
In addition, the portables may contain Grease decorations as well. The
Booster club may create 50’s cutouts to have pictures taken of audience members who wish to participate. This may be turned into a fundraiser.
Program ads
will be offered for the Grease program. In addition, one-line kudos will be offered
for cast and crew.
The show times
will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 3:00. Mr. Porter is considering a preview show
on Wednesday at 7:30. Online ticket sales will be available the first week of
January. Brown Paper Tickets will again be utilized to sell the tickets.
It is necessary
for us to replace the floor and some missing curtains (legs). Further discussion
will be held in future meetings regarding the logistics of that process.
There was discussion
regarding the article written in West Austin News. We will have another write
up surrounding publicity for Grease in the near future. It was discussed that
we need to utilize the Trojan Newspaper and Austin Family magazine. There was
discussion on including photos of the plays in the yearbook.
