Mr. Eric Porter holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Texas and an MFA in Acting from the
American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He has performed
professionally in regional theaters and Shakespeare Festivals across the country, including PCPA Theaterfest, St. Louis Rep.
The Utah Shakespeare Festival, The Cleveland PlayHouse, Monomoy Theater (Cape Cod), Players Theater Columbus, and Theater Arlington.
He has also performed off Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theater, Playwrights Horizon, and the Manhattan Theater Club. He
also had the privilege of being the standby for the Boy in Three Tall Women at The Vineyard Theater on Broadway. Mr. Porter
has been seen locally at Different Stages, the Vortex, (where he won a B. Iden Payne award for outstanding Lead Actor in a
Drama), Capital City Playhouse, the Public Domain, and most recently in Austin Shakespeare company’s Much Ado About
Nothing playing Don Pedro . He has also worked as the assistant to the Sr. VP of Casting Feature Films at Paramount Studios
in Hollywood where he worked on Cameron Crowe’s movie Elizabethtown with Orlando Bloom
and Kirsten Dunst.
This is Mr. Porter’s 10th year of teaching at the high school level. Some of his former students have
gone on to such prestigious schools as, Juilliard, North
Carolina
School of the Arts, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, NYU, Boston University and USC. They have appeared
on Broadway, in Regional theaters as well as on television and film. One of his former students (Michael Urie) is currently
appearing on television’s Ugly Betty as Mark, Vanessa William’s lovable assistant.
Mr. Porter hopes to bring a higher level of professionalism to Anderson High School’s Theater Arts program
and looks forward to getting to know all of you this upcoming year.
