Are you registering for the right Theatre class?

 

Check to make sure.  If you have any questions, ask Mr. Porter, the Anderson Theatre Director, before you turn in your course sheets.  Email or call him at eric.porter@austinisd.org, or 841-1580.

 

 

  • Theatre Arts I (1643.R000.A & B) – All students enrolling in their first year of high school Theatre should sign up for this class, regardless of the classes you took in middle school or your grade level.  (Students who have been involved in advanced theatre programs may be placed into an Advanced Theatre Arts I class after registration, assuming there are enough students to make up a separate class.  Students who wish to be in this more advanced section must provide Mr. Porter a written recommendation by their middle school teacher or acting coach before the end of this school year.
  • Theatre Arts II (Advanced) (1646.R000.A & B) – Students enrolling in this class must have completed Theatre Arts I and have teacher approval.
  • Theatre Arts III (Advanced) (1653.H00.A & B) – Students enrolling in this class must have completed Theatre Arts II and have teacher approval.  This class will most likely be combined with Theatre Arts IV.
  • Theatre Arts IV (Advanced) (1663.H00.A & B) – Students enrolling in this class must have completed Theatre Arts III and have teacher approval.  This class will most likely be combined with Theatre Arts III.
  • IB Theatre SL (7415.I000.A & B) &
  • IB Theatre HL (7416.I000.A & B) – Students wishing to enroll in IB Theatre need to speak with Ms. Szabo, IB Coordinator.  This class may be combined with Theatre Arts III/IV.
  • Technical Theatre I (1644.R000.A & B) classes deal with the technical (non-acting) areas of theatre such as scenery construction, lighting, and sound.
  • Theatre Production I (1616.R000.A & B),
  • Theatre Production II (1617.R000.A & B),
  • Theatre Production III (1619.H000.A & B), and
  • Theatre Production IV (1625.H000.A & B) - are after school classes for students who are involved in school productions.  This class is optional and can be added after school starts.  Classes must be taken sequentially, and students must have taken or be currently taking a Theatre Arts or Technical Theatre class, at the same time. 

 

All Courses are yearlong.
