Anderson Theatre
Booster meeting minutes
4/8/10
In attendance: Barbara Coldiron (presiding), Nancy McCourt, Eric
Porter, Randy Russell, Susie Doenges, Lynne Chapman, Pierrette Tyson, and Nancy L’Amie
1.
UIL Play - Nancy McCourt gave UIL Play feedback – strong competition/good trip.
-
Mr. Porter’s said that it’s the 1st time in Anderson’s 5 A
history that the One-Act-Play has advanced to Area
-
Barbara Coldiron mentioned that the booster officers voted in favor of the booster club
paying for the hotel costs since the kids had to stay overnight. Due to the quick
turnaround in time from the District win, there was not enough time to poll the entire membership. The total cost was $636.65. Barbara noted that this is an expense we should count on for the future and to plan
accordingly in our budget.
-
Mr. Porter said that if there were enough time, Grant Goodman with AISD (downtown) might
have paid for a bus, as he has been known to pay for expenses beyond District when students are heading out of town. Parent drivers were asked instead.
2.
Director’s Comments – Mr. Porter is thinking about how
expensive the musical usually is and how tough the schedule is to perform it in January due to the holiday break in
the middle of rehearsals. He thinks he might have a smaller musical next year
(like Little Shop of Horrors, with smaller cast and set and cheaper costumes) to perform in October. Then in early spring, (due to the poor attendance of Trojan Idol) he’d like to do some kind of Anderson
Talent/Follies show in the spring, maybe multiple nights ending in a “Best of” night with profits to be shared
with other Fine Art departments.
3.
Ruby’s Story – Anderson Performance, Wednesday, 7:30 pm. Tickets $2 students, $4 Adults. Teachers will be free. Booster members can use their punch cards. Volunteers–
Concessions: Lynne Chapman and Cheryl Danks (arrive at 6:45) Box Office: ?? (arrive
at 6:30)
4.
Treasurer’s Report – Nancy McCourt submitted the report that we have spent $72.80
(on Footloose Concessions, Letter Jackets, and supplies for Bear tags) since last month bringing our balance to $5307.66.
5.
Student-Directed One Acts – there will be 3- 40 minute shows in the performance. The same performance will repeat the 2nd night. Shows will be May 18 and 19th at 7:00 pm. Mr.
Porter would like to have monologues presented in between shows, but it seems that none of the students are interested in
that.
6.
Theatre Banquet – June 3rd, 6-10 pm, at Dave ‘n Busters. Food will be heavy finger food (Pierrette, Nancy L’Amie, and Xan Benton coordinate). Theme is Speakeasy (20s/30s) (Lynne Chapman and Cheryl Danks coordinate decorations). We need help with technical stuff for slide show to avoid problems of last year.
7.
Theatre Parent Dinner – May 23rd date is proposed. Dutch treat to have officer exchange and an adult night out. Restaurant
suggestions were given: Bucca de Beppa, Chez Zee, and Mirabelle, as well as, La Morada.
